Mission Statement

Canberra Dramatics is a community of theatrical artists working in their chosen medium with the purpose of espousing Christian life principles and bringing the power of God into the places where Canberrans experience theatre. We seek to relate to both audiences and peers in this endeavour, furthering the Canberran churchÂ’s pursuit of ChristÂ’s Great Commission in every way possible. Our vision is that a light will shine in the theatres of Canberra, and the darkness will not overcome it.

Description

Canberra Dramatics focuses on the production of new dramatic work by local artists. We may produce plays by interstate or international playwrights, but only where they make a particular statement of relevance to the people of Canberra.
Canberra Dramatics is a member of Canberra's Network of Amateur Theatre Organisations (NATO), and actively supports the work of other theatre organisations around the city.
Volunteer actors, crew and administrators make this work possible, and strong long-term relationships are being built with theatre practitioners across Canberra, spreading the light and life of Christ.

Organizational Statement of Faith

Canberra Dramatics has a single statement of faith, which is the Bible. The Old and New Testaments together are an exhaustive description of what we believe. Where the Bible speaks, we speak; where the Bible is silent, we are silent; and where the Bible is a bit shady, we are a bit shady. Our motto espouses this principle, specifying these three aspects of our work: light, dark and shade.
