Mission Statement

ACCESS, Inc., sheltering women and children since 1984. ACCESS, Inc. is a partner agency of the United Way of Summit County and is dedicated to addressing the plight of the homeless women and children in our community. The agency encourages the development of self-esteem and promotes the attainment of self-sufficiency through its commitment of providing a safe, supportive and holistic environment and through its programs of housing, education, advocacy and empowerment.

Description

ACCESS, Inc. operates two programs: an emergency shelter for homeless women and children, and a two-year transitional housing program, called Step II, for homeless single women. Most volunteers are needed at the emergency shelter, which is a 30 bed temporary shelter for homeless women and homeless women with children. The emergency shelter program offers meals and supportive services, including case management, onsite health care, housing resource information and assistance, children's programming, and referrals to appropriate social service agencies.
