Ministry Prayer Partners
MINISTRY PRAYER PARTNERS
Purpose:To cultivate personal spiritual vitality that can motivate, empower, and sustain evangelism and social ministry.
Why:Holistic ministry is God's work, and God works through prayer. Prayer is at the heart of mission. Prayer frees us to witness, empowers us to do good works, guides our ministry decisions, and renews our hope. Having a designated Prayer Team reminds the church of our dependence on God, provides an outlet for sharing congregational and personal needs, and helps the Ministry Vision Team become more sensitive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. When the congregation sees holistic ministry as an answer to prayer, it encourages an attitude of trust and thanksgiving.
What:
- Enlist Prayer Partners to pray specifically for your church's mission. One way to do this is if each Ministry Vision Team member recruits someone to pray for them and for the church as a whole.
- Prayer Partners can pray individually, or together. How often they pray, and what format to use for prayer, is up to you.
- Prayer points include:
- The congregation, particularly the leadership.
- Personal needs of Ministry Vision Team members that are shared in team meetings.
- The community. The Ministry Vision Team and the congregation can share special concerns or individuals in the community to be lifted up.
- Praise! Give thanks, honor and glory for who God is and what God has done, is doing, and will do in your church and community (Phil. 4:6).
- Keep the Prayer Partners updated on the progress of your church's ministry journey and particular prayer concerns arising out of the process.
