Summary:

This is a companion workbook to Neil Anderson’s Freedom from Addiction. The premise of this workbook is that people cannot consistently behave in ways inconsistent with how they view themselves. This Bible-centered recovery program teaches each addict who he or she is in Christ.  The Workbook contains ten chapters, each of which includes sections to help the participant understand the problem; make a personal appraisal; discover the scriptural truth that sets him or her free; state the truth; illustrate the truth; appropriate the truth; and personalize the truth.  The format of each chapter includes written information as well as questions and responses.  The ten chapters cover:

    • How you got where you are
    • What keeps you in bondage?
    • Giving up on self
    • Understanding the Gospel and your Heavenly Father
    • Our identity in Christ
    • Freedom from fear
    • Freedom from the past and victory over sin
    • Freedom from performance-based acceptance
    • The battle for the mind
    • Growing in grace

Why does FASTEN recommend this resource?

Author Neil T. Anderson, founder and president of Freedom in Christ Ministries, is a well-known church leader, counselor, and public speaker among charismatic Christian churches and denominations.  Authors Mike and Julia Quarles use their experience as a recovering alcoholic and a counselor to provide personal insight.  This workbook contains personal questions to work through before participating in the large group meeting and skillfully combines the individual and communal sides of recovery.
