Lilly finally received some recognition in her pursuit of justice and she’s sharing it with working women all over the country, thanks to Mr.Obama.

President Barack Obama signed a significant bill of his administration yesterday, a measure for women and others to sue employers for pay discrimination. The Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act makes each paycheck a possible instance of discrimination, and Lilly Ledbetter, 70, a former employee of Goodyear Tire Rubber Co plant in Alabama, stood before the President to witness the signing of the bill.

“While this bill bears her name, Lilly knows this story isn’t just about her. It’s the story of women across this country still earning 78 cents for every dollar men earn—women of color even less—which means that today, in the year 2009, countless women are still losing thousands of dollars in salary, income and retirement savings over the course of a lifetime.”

The signing of this bill is a monumental victory for everyone who cares about fairness and equality. “The first law signed by President Obama shows that this White House is committed to justice for people who work hard every day," said Alliance for Justice President Non Aron. Thank you, Lilly, for speaking up on your vision of justice and piecing together progress for the battle of equal pay within the business world. Although I believe in peacemaking efforts and that lawsuits are not always the answer, I believe that strong women must uphold the law and use it to get they equality deserve.

“Now it’s up to us to continue this work. This bill is an important step—a simple fix to ensure fundamental fairness to American workers—and I want to thank this remarkable and bi-partisan group of legislators who worked so hard to get it passed. And this is only the beginning. I know that if we stay focused , as Lilly did—and and keep standing for what’s right, as Lilly did—we will close that pay gap and ensure that our daughters have the same rights, the same chances, and the same freedom to pursue their dreams as our sons.”

I’m joining Lilly’s women's team of justice because I’m tired of losing. I may be a lean 5’8” F 125 lbs but I will be an asset to the team with my gender, strong will, intelligence, and open to vision for victory and passion for women’s issues.

I’m happy to have BAMA on my team too. 6' 1½", Commander in Chief.
