Kit & Ian Danley: Blessing not a Burden: A Theological Approach to the Immigration Issue: CCDA 2007 Audio
Scripture mandates that "When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born..." [Lev. 19:33-34]. How do we reconcile this directive with our current immigration situation? An increasing number of our churches have undocumented parishioners in the pews, but how can we preach a holistic gospel to them ignoring their daily battle contributing to a country that systemically excludes them? This workshop will propose a theological framework for 'Welcoming the Stranger' as well as give updates on current legislation, discuss the political landscape, and offer links to other Christian groups and coalitions working on the issue. Come with open minds and hearts understanding that when we 'Welcome the Stranger' we welcome our Saviour!
