Mass layoffs
Poverty is the greatest issues facing not just our country, but also the entire world. Hundreds and thousands of jobs that are on the chopping block are reported every day, and the unemployment rate seems to climb another hundredth of a percentage point every day. Mass layoffs have come from nearly every company that previously were thought of as bedrocks of industry, like Boeing, Microsoft, Bank of America, and the list goes on. Many experts have said that it will hit a peak by the end of 2009, and then a decrease in unemployment by the beginning of 2010. For so many people afflicted, this will be too long a wait, as the effects of mass layoffs only make the economic woes so much worse.
