Vibrant local businesses are an essential ingredient in any healthy community. This workbook sketches a winning game plan for discovering what local businesses already exist in your community and how you can help mobilize their full economic potential to promote a healthy local economy.

The guide is broken into three sections. In Section One, Kretzmann and McKnight explain two ways to map out a community’s assets in terms of the businesses located in it. In Section Two, they discuss ways to contact these businesses and encourage them to mobilize their assets on behalf of the community. In Section Three, they list several other workbooks helpful in mobilizing the entire community. The appendix includes a number of user-friendly and easily reproducible worksheets and inventories.
