Tutors and Mentors

Title: Volunteer tutors for middle school students needed on Saturdays starting this October (small monthly stipend provided, paid training begins in September).

Bethany Memorial Reformed Church is a multi-cultural, small, and welcoming church located in the Upper East Side, near Hunter College.

The church's homework help program for middle school students launches in October, and we are looking for college students, recent college grads, retired school teachers, and other qualified Christian volunteers to join us. The tutors will help the middle school students in the city with their critical reading skills, analytic writing, and math. We are looking to provide 1:1 or up to 1:4 tutor-student ratio, in the hopes of fostering a personal mentoring experience and giving individual attention to the students. If you are interested in education and mentoring of middle school students in the city, this is a good opportunity for you!

As a way of saying thanks, we will provide a small monthly stipend for all tutors who commit to a weekly tutoring meeting on Saturdays at the church fellowship hall from 10am to Noon OR Noon to 2pm. Also, if there is an interest, we will form a support fellowship to encourage participating tutors in their continuing spiritual and educational development.
