Sports Coordinator

PURPOSE:                   Coordinator sports leagues as a tool to reach the ICI objectives of evangelizing and discipling inner city children and youth

REPORTS TO:             Program Director

COMPENSATION:      Support raising with paid vacation, holidays, and sick time; optional medical/dental benefits; medical reimbursement and 403B retirement plan

RESPONSIBILITIES

·      Provide and promote sports leagues for kids

·      Be responsible for all administrative duties of the leagues

·      Prepare and monitor annual sports league budget

·      Oversee maintenance and inventory of camp sports equipment

·      Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with other ministries to partner in the leagues

·      Be responsible for staffing the leagues (coaches, referees, etc.)

·      Work with youth ministry supervisor and children’s supervisor about getting kids involved in club programs.

·      Build relationships with 5-10 children with the purpose of discipleship

a.       Continue these relationships as long as the kids are willing.

b.      Work to involve them in a local church

c.       Involve them in sharing their faith with others

d.      Spend at least 5 hours a week visiting kids and getting to know their families

QUALIFICATIONS

·         Must exhibit a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ

·         Must be born again according to the Gospel

·         Must have a minimum of one year (or equivalent) of formal Bible training

·         Must be able to function as a team player to achieve and support organizational goals

·         Must have a love for children/youth

·         Must have a knowledge of a variety of sports

·         Must be willing to live in the community to which ICI actively ministers

·         Must be discerning and sensitive

·         Desirable that he/she have the ability to teach effectively

·         Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills
