Program Director of the Messiah College Philadelphia Campus
Messiah College currently has an opening for the full time, year-round position of Program Director of the Philadelphia Campus. The Program Director provides oversight to all aspects of the educational and support programming of MCPC. He/she supervises all personnel and facilitates the budget process. The Program Director also sponsors and develops curricular initiatives, collaborates regarding co-curricular activities, and provides leadership for strategic planning for the campus. He/she maintains contact with the main campus (located in Grantham, PA) departments to provide updates on operations-related matters and to facilitate departmental involvement in student recruitment and program use. The Program Director identifies and maintains positive relationships with community actors, Messiah alumni, and Temple University – serving as the official liaison between Messiah College and Temple.
A Master’s degree is required; a Ph.D is preferred. Work experience required includes 3-5 years of administrative experience within higher education; experience within urban studies programming is preferred.
Other requirements include: Ability to give leadership to a small work community in an inter-disciplinary setting; Articulated understanding of and ability to integrate contextual learning and/or urban studies; Expertise in developing community-based learning experiences; Ability to build positive, effective, and supportive relations with colleagues; Budget management experience.
The Messiah College Philadelphia Campus provides students with the opportunities to learn, serve, and engage at Temple University, an urban institution located in the heart of the city. The twofold mission of the Messiah College Philadelphia Campus (MCPC) is:
· To educate students toward maturity of intellect, character, and Christian faith in the context of Temple University and the city of Philadelphia.
· To give students the opportunity to examine how Christian faith and praxis informs and directs academic inquiry, community engagement, and vocational calling in an urban context.
