Bikes for Africa Initiatiative www.bikesforafricainitiative.org rescue bikes from the landfills in the US and send them to communities in Africa.We are currently looking for a part-time fundraising and development manager who can be based anywhere in the United States and work from the comfort of his/her home.

Job Description
This individual is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and follow-up of both small and large gifts in support of annual operations and capital project goals of Bikes for Africa Initiative. Working with volunteer staff online, this individual will head solicitation and cultivation of prospective individual donors, major donors and foundation funders.Applicants with track record and ability to work independently and toward goals successfully notwithstanding challenges will be put to the top of the pile. This individual should have entrepreneurial mind, be innovative, posses self starter characteristics and provide solutions as opposed to doting on challenges.
Responsibilities include
  • Cultivating relationship with prospective funders and devising strategy to increase the number of individual’s donors to BFAI and expand our funding base.
  • Writing funding proposals and preparing an annual fundraising budget and work plan.
  • Researching and prioritizing foundations for Bikes for Africa Initiative shipment programs and creating an annual schedule of grants to be sought.
  • Interfacing with volunteer staff to ensure BFAI’s work is effectively represented to funders.
  • Research and provide details regarding further development of Web/Web 2.0 functionalities for our Web site and other online social networks for the purposes of raising funds online and increasing our supporters and individual donor base.
  • Help to develop a marketing plan for the organization as well as each program, implement those strategies of the plan and create a maintenance strategy of marketing and public relations campaigns.
  • Organizing our e-newsletter, working on sponsor and member relations and fundraising, as well as help with event execution, development, and management.
    Remuneration: Successful candidates will receive an allowance of $1000 a month after their 3 month unpaid assessment period. In addition to the $1000 monthly allowance, special bonuses on all funds raised will be paid to the successful candidate.
