House Construction Coordinator

Responsibilities:
o Help welcome, organize, and direct volunteers on the house construction sites
o Provide on-site leadership serving as a crew leader to effectively utilize volunteers
o Assist the Director of Construction to prepare the sites and ensure the proper tools and materials are ready for volunteers
o Assist in volunteer orientation and safety talks
o Help construction staff plan and prepare for upcoming construction activities
Qualifications:
o Good working knowledge of all facets of construction (or a willingness to learn them)
o Ability to communicate the construction process to skilled and unskilled volunteers
o Flexible schedule
o Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
o Sound understanding of the Habitat philosophy
o Patience to explain and teach various tasks
Each AmeriCorps*VISTA member will work full-time for ten weeks. There are two start dates for the summer program: May 19th and June 2nd. These terms will end on July 25th and August 8th, respectively. Each member will receive a living allowance (approximately $1500) and will earn an education award of $1000 or a cash stipend of $200 upon the completion of their term.
