Mission Statement
The mission of Harambee Ministries is to promote indigenous leadership development in Northwest Pasadena and beyond
Position Overview
The Executive Director is responsible for leading and achieving the mission, vision, values, goals and strategies for all functions of Harambee Ministries as established by the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is the principal external representative of the organization and is responsible for maintaining Harambee's positive presence as a Christian Family Center, school and the best place for children
Responsibilities
To nurture and maintain a Christian environment where children, youth, and adults are enabled and encouraged to reach their God-given academic and character potential. To nurture and equip leadership that will holistically minister to the community by sharing, modeling, and implementing Biblical truths in order to achieve the transformation of urban neighborhoods and the values of the Christian Community Development Association.

1. With the Board, set organizational strategic direction for the programs of Harambee Ministries: Harambee Preparatory School; Harambee Pre-School; Harambee Christian Family Center’s after school, summer camp, and Jr. Staff programs; Harambee Institute and any additional programs or divisions under the operating name of Harambee Ministries.
2. Develop and maintain organizational and individual funding to meet the annual budget (i.e. individuals, churches, foundations, major donors).
3. Communicate, and build commitment to, Harambee Ministries’ goals and work among constituents: board, staff, donors, public officials, community, parents, etc
4. Act as principal external representative of the organization: primarily, but not exclusively, through speaking, writing and all public communications.
5. Periodically review, with Board, the organization’s overall strategy to ensure allegiance to mission as well as anticipation of and response to changing conditions.
Operational
1. Oversee attraction, retention, development and production of a high-performance staff; including materials for successful staff operation: employee manual, job descriptions, performance reviews, etc.
2. Oversee organizational fund development in all facets.
3. Lead senior staff and leadership team to achieve desired outcomes and results.
4. Maintain financial integrity of the organization through development and implementation of the budget.
Personnel
1. Set expectations, supervise and develop staff in a team environment for results.
2. Manage, with the Board, the attraction, retention and development of a high-performing Board of Directors.
3. Work with Board in succession planning.
Personal Experience & Attributes
1. Active member of a Christian church including demonstrated spiritual leadership.
2. Love, respect, and affirming vision for urban communities, NW Pasadena in particular.
3. Demonstrated management experience, including youth centers and/or schools.
4. Demonstrated fund-raising ability.
5. Demonstrated personnel skills.
6. University/college degree preferable.
7. Demonstrated commitment to racial reconciliation.
8. Demonstrated small business management skills, including financial management.
9. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
