director of entrepreneur training center
Short Description of Opportunity
Director of an academic and applied Economic Development and Entrepreneurship curriculum at the Bangui Evangelical School of Theology (B.E.S.T.) in the Central African Republic.
Specific Tasks & Desired Outcomes
Direct the 3 year bachelor's level academic program;
Manage the creation of new enterprises that will benefit the school and offer field work opportunities for students.
Helpful/Required Qualifications or Experience
A committed Christian, dedicated to making Christian ethics fundamental to the way he/she functions in all of life in general and in business in particular.
An entrepreneur at heart, finding satisfaction in figuring out how to make products and services that would contribute to the well being of others, enjoying the managerial process of implementing ideas in an economically successful way, and being pleased to see jobs created that would enable others to flourish.
An entrepreneur by experience, who has created and managed several successful business ventures, used modest start up funds, and can look back over a number of years of entrepreneurship.
A coach by gifts and interest, who enjoys helping others become proficient in applying the knowledge he has acquired in theory and practice. This implies teaching skills.
A person with an MBA (minimum), or equivalent, as well as biblical/theological maturity, regardless of how he/she has acquired it.
A person with a desire and the ability to manage an applied entrepreneurship program, including the finding of professors for the various modules.
A person willing to make the oversight of creating and managing new enterprises part of his/her work for the sake of student field experience and for the sake of eventually assisting BEST through them.
A person willing to work in a cross-cultural context where French is the official language and Sango is the main language spoken in the country. I don’t think either language would be necessary for the director to know as a qualification. But he/she would be helped a lot by being willing to pick up the basics in the process of functioning as Program Director.
A person willing to work under African leadership at BEST. Nupanga is an exceptional man. A team player willing to have financial decisions, hiring decisions, curriculum decisions and policy decisions be subject to the input of other appropriate team members. A lone ranger won’t do.
A person with some ideas about how to find start up capital for enterprises.
A person who would need minimal financial support from the school. Housing on campus would be provided, but it’s not certain how much beyond that without some specific resources not yet identified.

Project Name
Bangui EvangelicalSchool of Theology
Briefly describe the project
B.E.S.T. has been training French-speaking Africans for 33 years at Bachelor's and Master's level. Its curricula have gone beyond traditional theological education from the beginning. In the fall of 2010 the school is committed to launching a new 3 year, modular curriculum designed to enable students to create employment and generate income. The curriculum has been designed, and the school is looking for a qualified person to lead in the launching of the program by October 2010.
Briefly describe project’s importance
There is no greater, more pervasive problem in central Africa than poverty. This initiative is an attempt by B.E.S.T. leadership to provide training to committed Christian lay people that will enable them to design and implement economic development projects that will benefit them, their churches and other people in need of employment.
Briefly describe project’s spiritual impact
The distinctive of this program will be the spiritual, ethical and missiological values of those committed Christians being trained. The hope is to distinguish Christian entrepreneurship by the ethical integrity and spiritual dynamic of those undertaking it. This could be a very significant field for working out the ethical implication of following Jesus Christ.
