ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY YOUTH PROGRAMS

The Greater Boston Vineyard Church is looking to bring on an Associate Director of Community Youth Programs. This position is an Americorps*VISTA position and will primarily focus on capacity-building and program development. The VISTA will work with the Director to develop and manage two curriculum-based youth programs. Additionally, the VISTA will work to oversee and expand the mentoring and tutoring programs. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual who is:

- Comfortable working with youth and adults both one-on-one and in group settings
- Interested in youth empowerment and leadership development

Specific Responsibilities:
- Working with the Director, help in overall curriculum development for current youth programs
- Oversee and co-facilitate enrichment program to middle and high school students
- Co-facilitate college prep/enrichment program to high school juniors and seniors
- Assist in student & mentor recruitment, selection, and matching
- Oversee mentoring program, with duties including but not exclusive to: supporting mentors, facilitating trainings, coordinating special events
- Research other mentoring programs/models and expand Vineyard’s current mentoring program, if feasible
- Establish and oversee a tutoring program, if feasible
- Support TechMission Corps Member with other youth spaces, as needed
- Assist with fundraising, as needed

Prior experience:
- Required: undergraduate degree; working with youth
- Preferred: facilitation and program/curriculum development

This position is a full-time one-year Americorps*VISTA volunteer position that runs from from July 21, 2008 through July 20, 2009 with a required training from July 15th-18th, 2008 (see below for more details).

Target Population
Served Youth in Cambridge (particularly North Cambridge and Central Square) as well as youth who attend the Greater Boston Vineyard Church. Special attention will be given to underserved youth who would most benefit from our programs. Americorps*VISTA This position is a full-time one-year Americorps*VISTA volunteer position that runs from July 21, 2008 through July 20, 2009 with a required training in Philadelphia from July 15th-18th, 2008 (Travel, food and lodging will be paid for). There is the potential that this position could be extended as a VISTA position for an additional year.

Please note that the VISTA program does not allow you to work at any other job or volunteer for any other organization during the duration of the program.
