AmeriCorps Member Opportunity
Join the national movement to serve low-income communities in the Dallas area. Central Dallas Ministries’ AmeriCorps will support over 100 national service members in over a dozen community organizations to expand and enhance programming.
This year we have two service Corps available:
Education Corps: Members serve with afterschool programs in low-income areas of Dallas. Applicants must be available Monday – Friday, 1 pm to 6:30 pm (time may vary slightly) from September 1, 2009 through June 3, 2010. Applicants must have an interest in working with youth, no criminal background, and be a positive role model for the youth.
Neighborhood Revitalization Corps: Members serve with one of three organizations to provide either emergency assistance or build community infrastructure. Applicants must be available 30 hours per week (8 am to 5 pm) with some Saturday work to be expected. Individual organizations may have additional requirements.
Minimum Member Requirements:
Serve 675 hours as a Reduced Part-time Member OR 900 hours as a Part-time Member
At least 17 years of age or older by September 1st
U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien
Provide (1) a copy of government issues ID and birth certificate, OR (2) passport
Member Benefits:
$4,100 - $5,500 living stipend (depending on term of service, paid biweekly over term)
$1,800 - $2,362 education award upon successful completion of service
Experience working with youth and community organizations
