Summary:
Jobs for Life, formerly Jobs Partnership, provides a 16-week course for individuals who are unemployed or underemployed. The class isn’t just about increasing participants’ employability. Jobs for Life’s goal is to help students move from unemployment to employment while also inculcating in them Biblical principles they can apply to lead a productive and healthy life. Utilizing the Bible as a textbook, students are shown examples of people who have overcome obstacles and whose lives have been transformed. The Jobs for Life program also matches students with “Champions” (mentors) who lend them consistent support for a year following the students’ completion of the course.
This curriculum includes a Site Leader Guide, an Instructor Guide, a Student Workbook, and an accompanying DVD. The Site Leader Guide provides detailed information the site leader will need to build a successful Jobs for Life program. The site leader is the individual who leads the Jobs for Life volunteer team and develops and implements plans for the program and monitors student progress. This manual also provides job descriptions for everyone on the volunteer leadership team.
The Instructor’s Guide provides the information and principles that need to be communicated to students, instructions for implementing small group activities and discussions, and homework assignments. It provides guidance about preparing to teach the course as well as practical information such as class schedules, tools need for each session, and suggested timeframes for each segment of the class.
The Student Workbook contains all activities, questions, and homework assignments that the students will need to complete the course. A DVD containing testimonials from individuals who have successfully completed the course is included as part of the curriculum.

Jobs for Life is a remarkable faith-based work readiness program that started in 1996 as The Jobs Partnership. Due it its extraordinary success, it already has been replicated in many communities. Jobs for Life now has revised its program in order to provide churches and faith-based organizations this toolkit, containing everything they need to implement their own Jobs for Life programs. Not only does Jobs for Life include all the necessary manuals and workbooks, it also provides customer service that can serve as an additional “resource team member” as needed. This toolkit and ongoing support will enable churches and faith-based organizations to help thousands more individuals gain not only employment, but healthier, more productive lives.
