ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY YOUTH PROGRAMS

The Greater Boston Vineyard Church is looking to bring on an Associate Director of Community Youth Programs. This position is an Americorps*VISTA position and will primarily focus on capacity-building and program development. The VISTA will work with the Director to develop and manage two curriculum-based youth programs. Additionally, the VISTA will work to oversee and expand the mentoring and tutoring programs. Classroom Aide

Supervisor: Preschool and/or School Age Director

Time: 10-30 hours per week

This AmeriCorps position will assist with a K-8th grade after school program based in a church or faith-based organization, serving through mentoring, providing basic technology activities, coordinating volunteers, and providing overall support.

A typical day of work for the After School Program Coordinator involves preparing lessons and activities for the participating youth, assisting them with their homework, leading lessons activities (especially with regard to technology), supervising their snack and outdoor play sessions, supervising volunteers, assisting with behavior management, keeping accurate records on program participants, soliticing and managing in-kind donations, and assisting the Site Director in the day-to-day administration of the program.

LOCATION

Title:  The Salvation Army Renewal Counselor

Salary Range:  $26,000 - $28,000

Description:  The Renewal Counselor will address the needs of individual clients and contribute to the overall success and efficiency of the Renewal Program - The Salvation Army's substance abuse treatment program that allows women to address the life-controlling problems that have hindered their success. 

Requirements:  Must have a high school diploma or GED; strong communication and organizational skills; willing to learn; flexible; non-judgmental about those we serve; and computer literate.  In addition, this person must be a certified substance abuse counselor (LADC or CADAC) and have 1 year of supervised counseling experience.

Potential Part time (18 hours/week) Parenting Instructor needed for program at federal prison (minimum security serving female inmates), as follows:  Two 3 hour sessions per week plus children's center in visiting room where inmates can practice what they learned in the educational component, emphasizing the development of the parent/child bond through appropriate play and learning activities.  Weekday (educational sessions - 6 hours) and Saturday (visiting room - 6 hours) and Sunday (visiting room - 6 hours).  Additional hours during holidays may be required.  No benefits.  Curriculum and training provided.  Must have Bachelors degree in education and experience providing similar services,

Beginning August 31, 2009 Stepping Stones Christian Center will launch a five-month (15/hours per week - time approved for practicum hours for NYU, CUNY, Columbia, Fordham, Adelphi, and other New York City area colleges) Early Childhood Development Internship program for college seniors and graduate students studying Early Childhood Development, Education, or any related discipline.
