Innovative Ideas to Motivate and Inspire Kids to Succeed
After sitting down with a pile of books about Child development, grantwriting, and Youth violence prevention...it occured to me that there is a deep depression in today's younger generations and how underfunded the organizations that work against poverty are. Intergenerational cycle of crime and poverty is accepted, fortunately not coveted. What are we to do about the belief in today's youth that having low expectations for yourself is acceptable? What of the larger organizations that try hard to discuss ways to alleviate poverty, but come with no solutions.
That is when we come in. As a grassroots organization, we come into contact with our constituents everyday. I think constant reminders of each child's importance and full potential in this world is vital to one's development. Whether it be a compliment or newspaper clippings about the latest good news--it is well worth the effort. Especially when there is an ethnic majority, it is in my opinion that children need to see role models with the same background or ethnicity being successful.
