2. "The seluruh Injil untuk yang utuh world."
* Care for someone's physical and financial well-being should evoke concern for their spirit; desire for someone's salvation should entail caring about every area of brokenness.
* Ministries should not compartmentalize social needs from spiritual, moral, and relational issues.
4. Individuals are created to live in healthy community.
* No tension between personal salvation and community development.
* Sin is both personal and corporate; God's restorative power extends both to individuals and to the social structures of which they are a part.
5. Spiritual transformation and socio-economic empowerment are linked.
* Conversion and discipleship have a profound effect on every other dimension of a person's life, and living a godly life has relevance in the here-and-now.
* Only a holistic approach can heal whole persons and communities.
6. Proclaiming the Good News and demonstrating the Gospel through loving actions go hand-in-hand.
* Actions without words are not sufficient, but words without actions lack credibility.
* James 2:15-16: "If a brother or sister is naked, and needful of daily food, and one of you says to them, 'Go in peace, be warmed and filled,' but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit?"
7. Christian ministry is incarnational.
* The mission of Christian community development is to embody the presence of Christ in all of life.
* Verbal sharing of the Gospel is validated by loving deeds, personal integrity, and relational depth.
8. "We do not live by bread alone."
* The goal of social ministry is more than turning people into well-behaved middle-class citizens.
* Personal salvation and improved quality of life are desired outcomes, but each alone is incomplete.
9. People are saved in order to serve.
* Coming to Christ means becoming a servant. Evangelism should lead to mercy ministry and community development.
* Matthew 16:24: "Those who desire to come after Me, let them deny themselves and take up their cross, and follow me."
10. Religious freedom is an inherent, God-given human quality.
* Faith must never be forced on others. Service must never be conditional on religious beliefs.
* Each individual is free to believe what they choose; but sharing your faith does not violate anyone's religious freedom.
Theological principles reflection questions:

b. Which of these ten principles do you agree with, which are you not sure about, and which are personally challenging? Are there any you disagree with?
c. Highlight the principles that you see embodied in your church.
d. Put a question mark next to the principles you think your church may not embrace. Does the church have a different theological view, or is it more a matter of finding it difficult to put these principles into practice?
