AmeriCorps*VISTA (Government Grant)

The focus of AmeriCorps*VISTA is to support low-income communities by strengthening nonprofit organizations,
encouraging volunteer service, and generating the commitment of private sector resources. AmeriCorps*VISTA members
serve for 12 months on a full-time basis in community-based nonprofit organizations and public agencies throughout the
country. In fiscal year 2006, approximately 7,500 AmeriCorps*VISTA members will serve in local programs where they will
leverage human, financial and material resources to increase the capacity of thousands of local organizations across the
country to develop and implement sustainable solutions to poverty-related problems in their communities.
