Brennan Manning's books are always reaching deep into the soul and this one, "A Glimpse of Jesus" is no exception. He has uncovered the basic impediment to a deep relationship with our "Abba". Well, worth the read!!
Self-Hatred--Too Strong?

Troubling dissatisfaction with one's self is a widespread problem for many people in our society. With his ability to "cut to the core" of issues faced by so many Christians, he challenges his readers to see in the life and teachings of Jesus His acceptance and recognition as normal this matter, in such a way as to help anyone leave the sense of guilt and failure behind.
A simple title for a hard to read book

It is a great title and a topic I would love to chew on - but the only thing this book helped me do is feel illiterate and stupid. I found myself having to re-read paragraphs over and over again to try and figure out what the writer was actually trying to say. So many big words in such a thin little book - definitely not easy reading. What a pity.
Brennan, you've done it again

This extremely important and absolutely priceless jewel is one of the first to directly address the most pressing spiritual problem of the postmodern age: self-hatred.
We are a generation raised by the TV, the daycare center, the foster half-stepmother. We have not known unconditional love. And we hate ourselves.
Brennan Manning's glimpse of Jesus opens the door to healing. Highly recommended.
A dazzling glimpse that feels like so much more....

Brennan Manning once again captures the wonder of his reader through humility, compassion and grace with his most thoroughly satisfying book since "Ruthless Trust." "A Glimpse of Jesus" is nothing more than just that, as Manning mentions in his introduction, but what a wonderful glimpse it turns out to be.
Being an avid Manning fan, I liked this book better than "The Wisdom of Tenderness" because it seemed to break free and stood alone, while "Tenderness" seemed to borrow to heavily from his past three wonderful books "Ruthless Trust," "Abba's Child" and his ever-famous "Ragamuffin Gospel." Thankfully, "Glimpse" brings Manning back to focus, with an undeniably powerful focus on Jesus: the "stranger to self-hatred."
At only approximently 141 pages, the book will read fast and will, if nothing else, show you a side of Jesus that many people refuse to see. I recommend this book highly! It's easly one of the best books I've read in awhile. But it's Manning, so it's no surprise.
