Summary:

The Forum for Reentry and Community Economic Development (FRCED) is a project of the National Congress for Community Economic Development.  FRCED conducts research and evaluation, collects and disseminates information, provides training and technical assistance, and increases awareness among service providers working with ex-offenders.  It believes that Community Development Corporations, with their experience in producing affordable housing and in job creation, are uniquely well-positioned to assist in helping ex-offenders successfully transition back into their communities.  In this way, the FRCED hopes to avert a looming crisis caused by the large numbers of prisoners reentering society each year with few prospects for jobs or housing.  It has formed partnerships with existing Weed & Seed programs to accomplish this goal.
