Pastor Mark Driscoll calls movies the new church in America and explains, "there are 'preachers' who are called filmmakers promulgating worldviews, philosophical systems, morals, and values." (listen to the sermon) There is no question that movies are one of the most powerful expressions of culture and values in our country. Therefore, it is wise for us to note that a large number of films are being produced with strong "race relations" themes.

This post focuses on five movies that are currently in theaters where interracial relationships is one of the central themes. Unfortunately, many of the films contain offensive material so please read the linked reviews before deciding to watch these films or to take a group. Here are some questions you may want to discuss if you watch one of these films:

• What do you think the film maker was trying to say about race relations?
• Do you agree with those statements? Are they biblical?
• Were Christians portrayed in a positive or negative light? Why?
• What Bible passages best apply to the themes in this movie?
• If the main characters were committed Christians with a biblical approach to race relations, how could the story have been different?
