Help Us Serve You Better!

FASTEN is currently conducting a “User Satisfaction Survey” for our Web site visitors. We want to know your feedback—what materials on the site are useful, how you’d rate the practicality and relevancy of the content, which Web features you most often take advantage of, and how you are applying FASTEN materials in your work. Your comments will help us improve the site and serve you better.

The survey questionnaire is brief and will require only a few minutes of your time. As an incentive, we are holding ten drawings through which we will select ten lucky winners of $50 cash gifts. If you wish to enter the drawings, be sure to provide your contact information for us when you complete the survey.

What Stories Does My Son Need?

The 2005 summer movie season will soon be upon us. Every urban youth worker knows the power and influence Hollywood has on teens. Typically, youth workers try have to try to mitigate the negative influences of the on-screen sex, violence, and materialism. But some stories and movies can actually aid in character development. One resource FASTEN has discovered is What Stories Does My Son Need? by Michael Gurian. This resource guide suggests 200 books and movies that provide parents with stories to develop the character of boys. The author provides an annotated listing of age appropriate stories and highlights the particular ethical lessons the stories can impart on boys and young men.
