Submitted by Thierry on Thu, 04/10/2008 - 14:55.www.theoswork.org -- Theo's Work Inc. / Espwa Haiti: a non-profit organization that was founded by Fr. Marc Boisvert in 1998 to support humanitarian efforts in southern Haiti.
The primary focus of Theos Work Inc. (TWI) is to alleviate the devastating effects of poverty on children in Haiti. The children suggested Pwoje Espwa as a name for the project, which is Haitian Creole for Project Hope.
Pwoje Espwa is a multi-faceted program serving the needs of over 1,000 children in this impoverished nation. The non-sectarian project is supported by private donations and fundraising efforts.

Submitted by jarboe on Tue, 03/18/2008 - 17:36.It's a mustard seed world after all. The little things we do or fail to do have immense impact. Jesus understood this truth, and he prepared his followers to act on that understanding. Somewhere along the way, however, the enormity of our trouble-plagued world and the uncertainty lurking beyond our immediate horizon overwhelmed us. We shrank from such big problems and contented ourselves to live in isolation from one another. In the process, we cut ourselves off from God's conspiracy: our little acts of faith and compassion prepare the world for the great celebration God has planned for us.

Submitted by EvanDonovan on Wed, 08/15/2007 - 21:41.As I've been discovering in the past few months, writing paraphrases from the Scriptures can be a great spiritual exercise, for those of us with creative aspirations.
Sometimes seeing the Scripture in a new translation helps the familiar become striking to you. This was actually inspired by seeing the Scripture in a new language - the Portuguese for Ps. 23:1, which was on the bumper sticker of the car in front of me as I parked tonight. A providential sighting, although I am convinced life is full of these, if we only have eyes to see them. That is why true conversion must be a conversion of the imagination.
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not stumble.
In the green pastures, He makes me to lie.
He leads me beside still waters - He fills me,
Restoring my soul in righteousness.
Yes, for Thy glory I am restored:
In death's shadow valley, I shall not fear.
For Thou art with me; Thy right hand upholds me.
Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me.
Before my foes, the table is spread:
Thou hast anointed; my cup now runs over.
Surely Thy goodness shall seek after me -
I rest in Thy mercy for all of my life
And will dwell in Thy house forever.
Catholic Church Announces Seven Sins for the Modern Era
Submitted by EvanDonovan on Tue, 03/11/2008 - 12:06.
The seven deadly sins have traditionally been a private affair. But in an age of increasing global interdependence, the Catholic Church has added seven sins to the list which have a broader scope. The seven mortal sins of a globalized world include environmental pollution, drug trafficking, and inflicting poverty.
A look through this packet, created by Tim Schmoyer of Alexandria Evangelical Covenant Church, will give you an idea of what topics to cover in a volunteer application for youth ministry workers. The theological background for youth ministry which he provides may also be helpful for planning volunteer orientations.
Speaking of Faith
Submitted by EvanDonovan on Tue, 01/29/2008 - 18:11.Krista Tippett is the creator and host of public radio?s phenomenally popular program Speaking of Faith, a weekly conversation about religion, meaning, ethics, and ideas. As a journalist and then as a diplomat in Berlin, Tippett was enthralled by the promise of political solutions to divisive issues. When politics did not provide worthy answers, Tippett attended Yale Divinity School to pursue larger questions about what makes a meaningful life.
