This is an interactive workshop that explores the possibilities of creating jobs and ventures in the community after clarifying goals (which are impacted by our faith base). This workshop uses real life examples based on experience and provides worksheets and tools for the exploration in one's own setting, as well as the venture creation funnel.

Share how to move "Up the River" from basic programs and individuals by identifying who and what is pushing people in and developing strategies to deal with effective change. Rooted in faith and based on Bethel New Life's experience confronting barriers to a just and sustainable community and seeing solutions that change the situation.

Sharing from the personal experience at Bethel New Life in leadership succession and the literature in the field from a founding leader to a next generation community leader the possibilities and pitfalls and the neccessity of having a plan and planning ahead. The opportunity for organizational growth in the process.

Transitions: Retiring from Your Organization, Repositioned for Full Life

This workshop shares information and experiences in planning for one’s retirement from a long held job and scoping out future opportunities for making a difference in justice and community in a new kind of way. It assists in reflection on personal journeys, hopes and fears of the future.

Fighting Gentrification: Housing Policy 101

This workshop offers a brief history of U.S. housing policy and examines models of how people of faith have fought gentrification and created affordability through advocacy. Models to be discussed include: Inclusionary Housing Ordinances, Condo Conversion Ordinances, Second Units at city, state and national levels. Participants gain tools to evaluate which models are most appropriate for their community.
