Laying a Healthy Church Foundation for Outreach
Laying a healthy church foundation for outreach:
Why this step is important: Dynamic spirituality and healthy congregational dynamics are essential qualities of a holistic church. Strengthen your church's capacity for outreach by building up the foundation of sound discipleship, vibrant worship, loving church relationships, mature leadership, and mission-oriented church structures. A healthy church becomes a vessel through which God can pour the Good News of salvation into the world.
Why it is helpful: When Christians truly love one another and meet one another's needs, when they experience growth and unity in Christ, and when their lives display the wonders of the Spirit, then congregations become powerfully attractive and transformational communities. Without a strong foundation of nurturing ministries to meet the spiritual, emotional and relational needs of members, a congregation will find it difficult to sustain community outreach. Keeping the holistic vision on track requires leaders who can equip the church for missional transformation and an organizational structure that serves the church's mission.
Your church might benefit from this step if ...the congregation is not spiritually mature; there is a disconnect between doing good works in Christ's name and being a disciple of Christ; the spiritual, emotional or material needs of people in the church are not being met; the leadership team is not all on board with becoming a holistic congregation; the leadership team is not prepared to lead the church through change; the church's organizational structure gets in the way of doing ministry; the church does not have a sufficient degree of organization to carry out mission projects.
