Summary:

The facilitator’s guide is a companion to the Finding Paths to Prosperity, Workbook, which guides adults of extremely-low- to mid-income families in saving and investing practices that will provide more security to their families in the long run.  The curriculum is designed specifically as an Individual Development Account (IDA) program, which gives the families an opportunity to increase their savings that are put towards a home, a business, or continuing education.

The facilitator’s guide provides everything one needs to know in order to run an IDA program from start to finish.  The guide is divided into six main sections.  The first three sections give a thorough introduction to the facilitator with “Tips for using the Material,” “About IDA’s,” and training information that covers the learning styles of adults (as compared to youth) and ways to respond to the needs of different individuals who make up the group. 

The “Session Materials” provided in the Facilitator’s Guide walk the facilitator through each class discussion and include homework assignments and in-class exercises to foster learning.  Finally, the Facilitator’s Guide provides additional resources in subjects of financial literacy.

The curriculum is free to download and free by mail but includes a $50 shipping fee.  The facilitator’s guide is a necessary companion that comes with the workbook.  This material was produced through the join efforts of the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), the Corporation for Enterprise Development (CFED), and the Fannie Mae Foundation.
