Summary:

Human trafficking is modern-day slavery and the second largest criminal industry in the world.  The U.S. government estimates that 14,500-17,500 people are brought into the U.S. each year to be used as slaves.  The non-profit organization Free the Slaves is a leader in education and advocacy about human trafficking and created a booklet that sums up the problem and the solution.  It will help you:

    • Look for and identify trafficked and enslaved people in your community
    • Know what to do if and when you find slavery
    • Understand how slavery in the US fits into the slavery that exists around the world
    • Know what you can do in your life and community to bring slavery to an end

Why does FASTEN recommend this resource?

This is the best booklet we’ve found for explaining what human trafficking is, what it looks like, and what you can do to make a difference in the lives of those trapped in modern-day slavery.  These brochures are available for free in their downloadable form.
