Tim Hughes’ Everything Video

The other day I was commenting on how I had been listening to Tim Hughes’ song “Everything” over and over. It’s been stuck in my head and my heart ever since visiting North Point about a month ago and hearing them do it. My friend, Kye S. Chung messaged me on Twitter and told me to check out this video by Justin Pae. Check it out.

Jailed in Scotland

Tony Miano reports:

I just received word that my friend and fellow evangelist, Shawn Holes is, at this moment, sitting in a Glascow, Scotland jail cell. His crime: he mentioned what the Bible says about homosexuality.

Q & A

Hi all, here is some questions that you may be wondering about as you think about supporting me financially during the World Race. Shoot me an e-mail if you have any questions.

Q: What does the fundraising cost of the World Race cover? A: The funds raised cover all team costs once the trip begins. This includes: Food, lodging, and air, land & sea travel. It also covers administrative costs, setup costs, coaching costs, debrief costs, and training prior to and

Expectations

Hello there So I have been putting his blog entry off because it really made me think "what are my expectations for this missions trip?" I expect to share the Gospel in a practical and loving ways. I expect to see the power of God at work and to see his Kingdom come. I expect to be pushed to my absolute limit of stress and of patients but I expect to depend on God in these times. I expect to have my heart broken time and time again for the broken, for the hurt, for the injustice, for the h

The View from here

I am sitting in my second favorite home of all time  - the Pitts house in Gainesville, GA!  Myself, Betty (the poodle) and Lily (the cat) are enjoying a late afternoon snooze in the sunshine.  It is an absolutely gorgeous day today and life is good.     All week I have been in GA to be a part of training some of our awesome training camp staff for this summer.  We are looking at having at 400 new racers come through training camps in the next 6 months and it is go

Sensing God

This is a thought that I have been dwelling on lately:   I find it intriguing how we sense God has progressed throughout time. In my view, there have been three distinct ways that people have sensed God throughout time.   The first way people sensed God was through hearing. I know in the Garden of Eden that Adam got to walk and talk with God, but that was extremely special and obviously did not last very long. Due to this, for the majority of the Old Testament, the way people sense

Feeing the Tent Community here in Port-Au-Prince

March 10, 2010. With the help of YOU and your financial donations, we were able to provide food for an entire tent community today! We were able to purchase rice, beans, chicken and juice (the typical Haitian meal) for 2,000 people. And this is not just any community. This is a community that Pastor Jean-Claude has his hands in. Most of the people here are people that go to his church. This community is a community that I now consider my family. We were able to live with P

Becoming a little more real...

I apologize for the lack of posts lately, however I have a "tent-making" job right now (Praise God!) and that has kept me very busy.   However I did want to say that Wednesday, going on the World Race became a little more real.   My backpack arrived at REI in richmond and so i drove down to get it.

I had it fitted while I was there and packed with "weighted" pillows to simulate a packed bag.  I then took a stroll around the store to get a feel for it and see where I

Meet the Boys at the CG.

Team L.P.P. has joined up with team Wrecked 52:7 for the month of March! (Meet them here:  http://www.theworldrace.org/?tab=blogs&pteamname=Wrecked%2052:7 )   Every morning we get to go to Children's Garden of the Philippines (known as the CG) and hang out with a bunch of awesome teenage boys. These boys all have different stories (and each one will break your heart), but one thing they have in common is that they were all street kids. They've been pi

Swimming in Denial

Newsflash: It's March 19th. That means that in approximately 3 months (official departure date is pending) I will be leaving the country for 11 months. I realize that none of this is new. I've been hearing and telling people this since December. Yet somehow the current of denial has still been strong enough to keep me in it. Maybe it's not entirely denial. Maybe some of it is the fact that I really won't be able to fully realize that life is going to change drastically until I ge

Orphanage Climbing a Volcano and Orphanage

Here We are in the Philippines, everything is cheap, but this has lead to spending more. I am and still led to working with the children in the Orphanage so now I am working With Jeepney at around 9 AM and going to the Orphanage at around 3PM and not getting off until after 8PM. Long day, but it has many rewards. Its hard to ask about family as many of these kids either have no parents or were taken from unsafe environments. These kids are nonstop active. When I got there

Always Learning...Always Growing

I am still learning a lot as I prepare to teach in Hungary in the fall!  One thing I have learned is that you never stop learning or growing.  Just because you go off and do a challenging 11 months overseas where you give up "everything" and stretch yourself further than you thought you could go spiritually and physically, DOES NOT mean you are done.  I am by no means complete or "spiritually mature."  God still wants to stretch me and continue to push my faith past the limit

Feedback Friday

It's that time again - time to give us your thoughts on our latest discussion...

WE WANT CHANGE!

Living in community has been interesting, challenging, and rewarding to say the least. On our last Feedback Friday we talked about what holds us back from embracing community and allowing people into our lives. < Special thanks to all of you who commented or e-mailed us your thoughts > As we've continued to figure out this whole community thing, we've come ac

Blessed are the Poor in Spirit

The Pew Research Center took a world survey of 91,000 respondents from fifty nations on their view of the American attitude. Americafs individualism and do it yourself attitude was highlighted as its distinction from most of the world. Because the American nation is wealthier than most nations of the world, there really is no need to rely on others for our every day survival. While toilets, clean water, and education are norms for us, they are luxuries worldwide. Material independence is often
