single men and pornography

There is a great book out for single men who are dealing with pornography and masturbation. I have been going through the book, because many books that I have been reading that deal with the issues men are facing deal with married men. And I kept saying what about single men? Don't we count? We are facing something that is completely different. And now there is a book out that deals with those issues. They deal with issues that men need the right answers if they're to move forward to God. But how do we do that? What does that mean? If we want to be sexually pure, we have but one choice- we either defend against such weak spots in our sexuality, or we will fall to every whim of the Enemy and our flesh. And we have been doing that for too long. And it is time we stop and fight.

Craigslist and Pornography

CT's state Attorney General Richard Blumenthal sent a letter today to Craigslist outlining "strong and specific" measures to fight prostitution and pornography on their website.

According the Attorney General, the ads posted on Craigslist for illegal prostitution and pornography were rampant, which he sited were reasons for the need to implement the new measures.

The new measures include eliminating photographs in the "erotic services" and similiar sections of the site, implementing technology that screens pornograhic images, hiring staff to screen ads that blatantly  violate craigslist terms of service and offering financial incentives for anyone for correctly flags and reports prostitution advertisements on the site.

Good Friday, the Resurrection and our Addiction

So many times I am asked that in our addictions whether it be alcohol, drugs or sexual, can God forgive us? And the answer is with a resounding a YES! That is the exact reason why God sent His son to die to cross. Which is what we are going to remember tomorrow on Good Friday. A lot of people say that God doesn't know what it is like to struggle with any type of sexual addiction, and that is so wrong. He does know. One of the temptation that the enemy through at time had to deal with the issues of the flesh. So tomorrow as we remember what Christ went through on the long walk to Calvary, let us also pause and remember and take a rock and place the name of our sins on the rock and leave it along the road never to look to back.

Can "Sexting" be considering child pornography?

Teenagers can be charged with child pornography for sexting. It is happening all across the country to kids as young as 13. If  a person takes a nude picture of themselves of sends it to a friend, not only is that friend who is getting that picture now in possession but the person who took the picture now just created some themselves.

A girl from Ohio, Jesse Logan commited hanged herself after her boyfriend reportedly spead nude pictures of her around. She had sent the pictures to him while they were dating.

"Kids need to understand that what is seemingly a harmless prank can be extremely dangerous" said Tom Cleary, A Multnomah County senior deputy district attorney.

20th Anniversary of Ted Bundy's Execution

I am not going to get into a discussion of the pros and cons of the death penalty. But Ted Bundy did bring out a powerful statement in his interview just before his execution, and that was how pornography took a normal young man and turn him into a monster. Now I am not saying that everyone who is addicted to pornography will turn into a Ted Bundy but one of the downfalls of pornography is that we learned to treat men and women as a sex object and not the way God intented for us to treat each other. We don't see others as a human being to be treated with respect, honor and love, but as an object to be treated to get what we want when we want it.

great new website

First I hope that everyone had a most blessed holiday season and the best wishes for a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year. I came across this website, and the first thing I thought about was it was about time somebody came up with this idea. There is a new website that allows parents to see certain words that their children are using in text messages on their cell phones. If those words are used, the parents are sent an email alerting them that objectionable words or pictures are being sent on their child's cell phones.  Also this website, you can run a scan of your computer, and see if there is any objectionable images on your computer. The website is websafety.com. I believe this is a great things for parents.

Holidays Can be Rough Times

I want to take this time to wish everyone a most blessed holiday season. I know for a lot of people this time of year can be rough. It is supposed to be a time for families and a time for celebrations. Or so we are told. But for a lot of people it can be a time of loneliness and rejection. And those two items can lead to more to the addictive cycle that many of us lead in the pornography area. We don't want to deal with the pain of the loneliness, hurt, rejection, so we "medicate" ourselves. We begin to look at small stuff (ads, pictures, reading materials, etc.) After a while this no longer makes us feel better so we go on to more and more stuff to get the same feeling of feeling better.

Pornography and the Bible

What does the scriptures say about pornography or sexual immoralty? That is a great question to ask during this National Bible Week.  Ephesians 5:3 says it all. "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity."  I don't know if you caught that, but the biggest key is NOT BE A HINT OF SEXUAL IMMORALITY. If there is any verse that talks about God's standard for sexual purity. This is it. Out of half of the books of the New Testament has something to sy about sexual immorality.

Pornography Addiction

I recently came across a book that addresses how a wife or girlfriend can address how to deal with the pain and struggles of finding out that their loved one is involved in sexual sin, whether that sin be lust, pornography or any other behavior.  It is a great resource and a book that is a "must read" for any wife or girl friend who is struggling with these issues. The name of the book is called Living with Your Husband's Secret Wars, by Marsha Means. The author is Marsha Means. Her husband Pat wrote the book Men's Secret Wars. It contains some great advice from a woman who has been there. It also contains in the back of the book some great resources, How to Start a Support Group, A Workbook for the Healing Journey, and a resource directory.

Pornography Addiction in the church

How do we address pornography addiction in the church? That is a good question, and one that I wish the church would answer. And one that I wish personally the church would answer. But since I don't see that happening any time soon in the near future, I guess it is time we start to take the bull by the horn and start saying we want some answers. In March 2005, Christianity Tody, published the results of a study called "Christians and Sex" in their Leadership Journal. 680 pastors and 1,972 laypersons were surveyed, with the following results:

Pornography is not normal

An article appeared in the LA Times in which it was stated that Pornography for men is normal and anyone who views it is normal. So there is nothing wrong in viewing it.

Pornography is addictive as any other drug and sometimes worse. Over 70% of all men have struggled with pornography and over 30% of all women have struggled with pornography. I recently attended a Promise Keepers event at Charleston, WV, and we were asked what we struggled with the most, and some of the stuff suggested was pornography, workaholism, and absent fathers. 60% of all the men attending said pornography.

Pornography Addiction

As I was sitting here wondering what to write about God gave me an idea. So many people talk about what to do about internet pornography and how to deal with it. The first thing is to put a filter on the computer. There are many good filters out there, such as SafeEyes, BeSafe just to name a couple. I use K9 for my computer. But to make filters really work, you need someone else to put their password on the installation. Putting your own password on it, defeats the purpose of the filter. The next you need to do, is to get an accountability person. Now I know how hard that is to do. To tell another person that you are addicted to internet pornography. I know that is hard. It was hard when I did it. But looking back after a year, I am glad that I did.

My blog

This blog will be used to talk about an issue that is rarely discussed in churches today. But one that I feel needs to be brought out into the open. A recent survey said that 70% of men and 30% of women struggle with some form of pornography or sexual addiction. Throught this blog we will be discussing this very issue. And for those who may want to know how I know about this issue, is that I myself have struggled with pornography and internet pornography for more than 20 years. And it hasn't been until the past 2 years that I have been able to break free of the chains that held me in bondage. I will be discussing the terrible toll that it took on my family, and friends. And what it took to finally break the chains and that you too and break free of the bondage.
