It will start with Jesus, that Asian born baby, born in a borrowed barn, who became a political refugee in Africa. A whole village full of babies died for Jesus before he could die for them on the cross. If anybody understands the pain and suffering of the poor who are sinners (but most often the ’sinned against’), it is Jesus. We’ll start with Jesus and the Kingdom, but be prepared to look at texts in both testaments, and then think about the 95.5% of the world, which lives outside the USA, and which is increasingly Christian and most often living in poverty.
