Trust me
Maybe I am too particular, but I think there is a difference between trusting God and trusting people. Jesus didn't trust people, but He still fulfilled the Father's will. He told his disciples to be as wary as serpents and as innocent as doves.
In mission work, I want to believe my clients. Some staff don't believe anything they say. It's a tough judgement call sometimes. But I like what Mother Teresa said...
ANYWAY:
People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered; Forgive them anyway
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives; Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies; Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you; Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight; Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous; Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will forget tomorrow; Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough; Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God; It never was between you and them anyway.
I guess I believe that if I have a solid foundation, I won't be thrown if they prove to have lied, etc (and plenty of them have done that). So I take them on a case by case basis and try to determine where their heart lies.
