Drug detoxification can take many forms. For example, the drug detoxification process for methadone differs from a heroin detox. Furthermore, individual drug detoxification treatment centers may advocate different treatments and procedures over others. Treatments can encompass nutritional programs, pharmacological programs, rapid detox treatment and sauna drug detoxification, to name just a few.
One way to track and identify various drug detoxification treatments is through innovative online addictions research. By investigating query searches related to the specific term “drug detoxification”, researchers can identify different drug detox therapies and rate their popularity among internet users.
Methadone Detox - Popular Search Phrase
What is most striking about Graph 1 of this study is specific references to individual drug detox methods. After the more general “drug detox” phrase, the next three phrases all refer to particular drugs: “heroin detox” (10,253), “methadone detox” (9,617) and “Vicodin detox” (6,270).
While it may seem surprising that “methadone detox” received such a large number of searches, one possible explanation may be that the phrase “methadone detox” can refer to detox from methadone or heroin detox that uses methadone in the detoxifying process.
